Robert John (“Bob”) Bielan, age 85 of Bayonne, NJ, passed away on July 16, 2023. He was a Bayonne legend, a proud Marine, and a dedicated Bayonne Firefighter. For over 45 years, he owned and operated the trustworthy auto-body business of Boulevard Automotive Center, where he also trained and mentored decades of young men to become auto body specialists.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife “Rosie” Quattromini Bielan He is survived by his children Judith Bielan and her husband Paul Somers, Thomas Bielan and his wife Lauren Bielan and, Robert John Bielan Jr. and his wife Filomena Bielan. He adored his grandchildren: David Somers, Jade Somers, Tommy Bielan, Jonathan Bielan, Taylor Bielan, Kayla Bielan and Ava Bielan.
For those who knew him, to say he was proud of his children and grandchildren would be an understatement. To him, they were his greatest accomplishments, and he would repeatedly say “I made all this possible” at the dinner table.
Right up until his death, his family continued to learn of the anonymous and generous acts of kindness he bestowed upon others, and what an impact his kindness had even on strangers.
He was a founder and president of the Holy Family Academy Father’s Club, where he also started and sponsored the HFA’s first girls’ soccer club, which later to become Varsity sport and state powerhouse. Bob was also a member of the Robbins’ Reef Yacht Club.
